DHAKA: The 41st anniversary of man’s first landing on Moon is being celebrated in the city with holding various programmes.

Bangladesh Astronomical Association in collaboration with Alliance Francaise and Omrito Consumer Food Product has

organized a two-week programme marking the day.

Noted educationist Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed formally inaugurated the programme by cutting a ribbon at 5pm on the

premises of Alliance Francaise de Dacca on Tuesday.

In his inaugural speech, Abdullah Abu Sayeed said, “Landing on Moon is still considered the most difficult event ever

happened in the world’s history. We should cherish the same dream that Neil had dreamt 41 years ago for building a new

Bangladesh.”

The programmes include a photography exhibition, film show, sky observation and an Astro Olympiad.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Astronomical Association Mashhurul Amin Milon told banglanews24.com.bd, “We are going to

launch a School Astro- Olympiad for students on July 30 to mark the day.”

Among others, president of Cosmic Culture Anish Mandal, executive officer of Omrito Consumer Food Products Kartik Dey,

acting director of Alliance Francaise de Dacca M. Jacques Bounin and Dr. Ali Asgar were present.

On July 19, 1969, the spacecraft Apollo 11 and its astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins,

went into orbit around the moon while Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the moon on July 20.
