DHAKA: Communications minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said punishment against the engineers would be taken, if they fail to make roads fit within Sunday for travel all over the country.

“The repairing works of roads will have to be finished as soon as possible so that the homebound people do not suffer during Eid-Ul-Fitr”, insisted the minister.

Obaidul was talking to the journalists while visiting Zurain-Postogola and Pagla roads in the morning.

The minister said, “Not only punishment will be given, dynamic people will also be appointed suspending the failed one.”

“Engineers’ responsibility is to make roads fit for vehicular movement; following that police will act so no traffic jam take place and the third is awareness,” he added.

Obaidul went on saying, “Problems of the roads will not be resolved, and communications ministry is doing campaigns across the country on the matter.”
