DHAKA: Armed police battalion detained one person with 18 gold bars weighing 1.8 kilograms and foreign currency worth over $ 18,550 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Saturday.

The detainee is Aslam Sheikh, Imam of Civil Aviation Mosque.

Law enforcers recovered the gold bars, worth about TK90 lakhs, from a flight of Turkey’s Airways which touched the ground around 8:55am.
