Case against traffic stoppage at Shahbagh

DHAKA: A case was filed on public interest to stop making a vehicular stoppage and illegal occupation on pavements in front of Sheikh Mujib Medical University and BIRDEM Hospital.

Bangladesh Supreme Court lawyer Prashanta Kumar Karmakar filed the case with Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court on Monday.

He told banglanews that the magistrate took the case into cognizance but did not give any complete order.

Following a recently published newspaper report on traffic irregularities, illegal occupation of pavement and sufferings of patients, the case was filed on public interest.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University director (administration), BIRDEM director (administration) and on behalf of Bangladesh government Ramna Traffic Police DC, DMP Police DC of Ramna Zone and GOCs of Raman and Shahbagh Thanas were made defendants in the case.
