BD steps ahead in human dev

DHAKA: Bangladesh goes ahead one step according to the Human Development Index of United Nation Development programme (UNDP).

Bangladesh stands at 142nd which was 143rd in the previous year.

Among the Asian countries, Sri Lanka stands at 73rd, India at 135th and Pakistan stands at 146th. 

UNDP published the report in their website from Tokyo, the capital city of Japan.

The report also said Norway achieved the first position while Australia gain 2nd, Switzerland 3rd, Netherland 4th, America 5th, Germany 6th, New Zealand 7th, Canada 8th, Singapore 9th and Denmark gain 10th position.

Economic Affairs department (ERD) is set to publish the report officially on Thursday.

Secretary of ERD Mazbah Uddin, Additional Secretary Ashhadul Islam and UNDP Acting Director Nick Beresford will be present in the program.
