TANGAIL: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police died on Saturday who received three bullet injuries while conducting a drive in Purba Adalat Para area of the district.

The deceased was Nurul Islam, an ASI of Tangail Thana.

Sub-inspector Anwar Hossain of the thana confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Akhtaruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Tangail Thana, said Nurul Islam conducted the drive in the house of alleged arms trader Ulka in the area around 11:45 pm.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers Ulka opened fire at police, leaving the ASI injured by the bullet hit.

Police fellows sent him to the Tangail Medical College Hospital and later transferred to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition was deteriorated.
