DHAKA: Five people were killed and eight others injured in two separate road accidents at Chakoria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district and at Chandina upazila of Comilla district on Sunday.
Our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports that a Chakaria-bound microbus from Cox’ Bazar tumbled upside down on highway around 12:00 noon as the driver lost control over the steering, leaving two dead on the spot and eight others injured.
The deceased were identified as Shahjahan, 30, son of Jafar Alam, and Pushpo Paul, 60.
Chakatia Malumghat Highway Police outpost In-charge Shafiul Azam told banglanews that the injured were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital and Malumghat Christian Memorial Hospital.
Besides, three people were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Chandina upazila of Comilla district in the afternoon.
Officer-in-Charge of Chandina Thana Golam Morshed told banglanews that a passenger bus of Hanif Paribahan plunged into a roadside ditch after colliding with a pick-up in Harikhola area of the upazila, leaving three people dead on the spot.
