SIRAJGANJ: Two cousins drowned in a pond in Kamarkhand upazila of the district on Thursday night.

The deceased were identified as Mim Khatun, 10, daughter of Belal Hossain of Kasiyahata village and her cousin Sadiya Khatun, 8, daughter of Jahurul Islam.

Local sources said that Mim and Sadiya went to attend a cultural programme organized in their locality Kasiyahata village on Thursday afternoon. 

In the evening, when they did not return home, their family started searching for them, and found their dead bodies in the nearby pond around 11:00pm.

Abdul Awal, Chairman of Jhaul Union Parishad confirmed the incident to Banglanews.
