JHENIDAH: Rail authorities on Friday suspended the station master and two linemen of Baro Bazaar Rail Station of Kaligan upazila of the district for negligence in duty following a tragic train-bus collision that claimed 11 lives and scores injured.

The suspended are station master Turki and two linemen Mominur Rahman and Humayun Kabir. They have been suspended temporarily.

Railway Khulna divisional superintendent Habibur Rahman issued the suspension order after the matter of negligence in duty was proved following preliminary investigation upon completion of the rescue operation at 11:30am on the day.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Railway Rajshai zone general manager Abdul Awal said, “The two linemen were not present on the spot at night and the tragic accident took place then; for this reason, they have been suspended.”

At least 11 people were killed and 70 more injured when a train crashed into a bridal party-people carrying bus in Baro Bazaar area of the district early Friday.
