DHAKA: Four people, including a Bangladesh Army man, were killed in Gopalganj and Magura districts as lightning struck them on Thursday.
In Gopalganj, two people--Aslam Molla, 35, hailed from Bolakoir village and Mukul Khan, 32, hailed from Muksudpur village of the sadar upazila--were killed.
Lightning struck Aslam Molla while going to local market. On the other hand, Mukul Khan was killed in the lightning while working at his jute field.
In Magura, two people, including a soldier of Bangladesh Army, were killed in Boralidah village in Sripur upazila around 1:30pm.
The deceased were identified as Monirul Islam, 25, also a soldier of Bangladesh Army, son of one Zamir Hossain and farmer Kabir Hossain, 50.
Lightning struck Monirul and Kabir while working in the rain, leaving Kabir Hossain dead on the spot and Monirul injured critically.
Later, Monirul succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Officer-n-Charge of Sripur Thana Shah M Awlad confirmed the matter to banglanews.
