DHAKA: Bangladesh Member of Parliament Nazmul Haque Pradhan visited Poaturkuthi, a Bangladeshi enclave located in Coochbehar district of Indian state of West Bengal on Thursday.
Both from Bangladesh and India, he was the first MP, who visited their country's enclave located in the neighboring country, Indian daily The Hindu publishes this report on Saturday.
Bangladesh’s 51 enclaves are located in West Bengal’s Coochbehar district while 111 Indian enclaves are located deep inside four districts of Bangladesh, the report added.
‘Today is one of the best moments of my life because I could reach people living in stateless condition for decades,’ Nazmul Haque Pradhan told media.
However, the MP regretted at a public meeting in the enclave saying that it was unfortunate, he, despite being an MP, had obtained a visa to enter his own country’s territory.
