DHAKA: A suitcase containing the body of a Bangladeshi man, who was brutally killed in Bahrain nearly two months back, was found on August 3.
Bahrain media on the following day went to town with the story of the suitcase murder case with sketchy details, leaving gaps of mystery.
Police on August 5 formally announce the arrests of two suspects in connection with the sensational murder case.
According to the primary information, the murder occurred over a trifling financial dispute between the three.
The victim was identified as Taher Antaz, 31. The remains of Antaz were found in a rubbish bin in Manama last April, reports Daily Tribune News of Bahrain on August 9.
Antaz was tied up, gagged and hung from a ceiling fan at an apartment in Ras Ruman. His alleged killers, also Bangladeshi, are being tried for premeditated murder.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man, whose badly decomposed body was found stuffed inside a suitcase.
The Bangladeshi men were taken into custody on Friday, where they confessed to killing him over financial disputes.
They told police that they abducted the man, also Bangladeshi, killed him and stuffed him inside a suitcase, which they dumped at the under-construction Al Louzy housing project in Hamad Town.
The body was discovered by a passer-by who was alerted to its presence by a foul smell - more than a month after he was killed.
‘An investigation was launched after a case of a missing Asian was reported on June 16, in which the circumstances of the case and the identities of the suspects were revealed,’ said an Interior Ministry statement.
‘Upon their arrest, the suspects highlighted that they kidnapped and murdered the victim over personal and financial dispute.’
‘They put the body in a large suitcase, moved it from Manama, buried it and covered it with cement and rocks in a deserted under-construction building.’
‘The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution after legal procedures were finalized,’ the statement added.
This is the second time a body has been found stuffed inside a suitcase in Bahrain.
