2 RMG workers found dead in Gazipur

GAZIPUR: Two readymade garments workers were found dead at Urmi Knitwear Ltd in Kaliakoir upazila of the district on Saturday.

On information, police recovered the bodies, said a spot account of the incident.

The deceased were identified as Abdur Razzak, 35, son of Sohrab Khan, hailed from Siddi Pasha village under Abhaynagar upazila of Jessore district and Lavlu Mia, 20, son of Sadekul Islam, hailed from Khashbari village under Palashbari Thana of Gaibandha.

Both of them were operators of the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) unit of the factory.

Witnesses told banglanews that the deceased’s colleagues informed police in the morning after noticing the bodies of Razzak and Lavlu floating at ETP plant’s reservoir water.

Urmi Knitwear’s Ltd General Manager (GM) Samsul Alam said that the bodies were found after searching following claims of the victims’ family members that Razzak and Lavlu didn’t return home on Friday.

However, Sayeed Azaharul Islam, Mouchak Police Camp in-charge said that police sent the bodies to the hospital morgue.

The reason of the dead will be revealed after getting autopsy report, he added.
