Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three, said an official weather forecast on Sunday.
Under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay. Squally weather may affect North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports.
Under the influence of monsoon low and full moon the low-lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox’s bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Borguna, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barisal, Pirozpur, Jhalokathi, Bagherhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by tidal surge of 2-4 feet height above normal astronomical tide, the met office warned.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
Besides, in associations with rain or thunder showers temporary south and south easterly, gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s bazar and Sylhet wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number one, according to river port warning message.
