69 Malaysia-bound held in Cox’s Bazar

COX’S BAZAR: Police and Coast Guard personnel in separate drived detained 69 Malaysia-bound people with two brokers from sea town cottage of Kolatoli road in the district on Saturday night.

Cox’s Bazar Sadar Thana Sub-Inspector Kamal Hossain told banglanews, “Acting on a tip off, police detained two brokers with 13 Malaysia-bound people from the area around 10:00pm.”

Confirming the matter, Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge Mahfujur Rahman said that the two brokers will be produced before court later on.

On the other hand, Shahidul Islam, Coast Guard Contingent Commander of Cox’s Bazar station, said that acting on a tip off the law enforcers seized a trawler with 56 Malaysia-bound people from Nuniarchhara ghat of the town.

Meanwhile, human traffickers fired seven rounds bullets aiming coast guard during the drive, he added.
