Journalists demand removal of Mohsin

DHAKA: The journalist community have given an ultimatum for removal and arrest of Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali within 48-hour for his obscene and unsavory statement against journalists.

Moreover the journalists asked him to apologize publicly for his statement. They also sought the interference of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in this regard.

Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalist (DUJ) factions have pressed the demand in front of National Press Club on Sunday.

Earlier on Saturday, in Sylhet, at a discussion meeting he told journalists are “dirty chaps and of bad character”. He further insulted journalists in many ways through his statement.

The president of a faction of BFUJ, Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul and its Secretary General Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan and president of a section of DUJ Altaf Mahmud and Kuddus Afrad along with other journalists’ leaders of the country asked and hoped an apologize from the minister for his odd words.

The journalists’ leaders claimed that Syed Mohsin Ali has been delivering inciting speech against media and journalists continuously.

His speech shows his lower mentality and courtesy which are unexpected, they added.

The journalists also said that his attitude as a minister also humiliated his party and the government.

They also hoped an interference and initiative from the Prime Minister in this regard. They also expected an instance from the government by removing the minister from his post and arresting him for his unusual statement.
