DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also ruling Awami League president, on Sunday expressed her profound condolence to learn about the tragic plane crash in Mehrabad area in Iran this morning.

“I am deeply shocked to learn about the tragic plane crash in Mehrabad area this morning causing loss of lives including children.  It is a matter of great sorrow for us,” she said in a letter to Dr Hassan Rouhani, President of Iran. 

In this hour of grief, on behalf of the Government and the People of Bangladesh and on my own behalf, I wish to convey my deepest condolences to the government and the friendly people of the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly to the bereaved families of the victims of this tragic accident, she said.

She also added in the letter: “While seeking divine blessing for the departed souls of the victims, we pray to Almighty Allah for bestowing strength on the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss.”
