DHAKA: The government has approved the proposal of signing deal for developments of land ports of the country.

The approval came from a regular cabinet meeting held at the secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Monday.

The cabinet approved Inter-governmental Agreement on land ports to promote international recognition of ports, facilitating investment in their infrastructure, improving operational efficiency and enhancing the environmental sustainability of transports.

After the meeting, cabinet secretary Muhammad Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told journalists following the approval Bangladesh can sign the deal and land ports can be developed.
