LAXMIPUR: Fourteen fishermen on Tuesday have come back alive and 26 are still missing after 22 days of trawler capsize in the Bay of Bengal of Ramgati and Kamalnagar upazilas of the district.

They went missing after the trawler capsize at the Bay of Bengal, South-West of Cox’s Bazar, on July 20 evening.

Main Uddin, who returned, said 21 fishermen were returning to Chittagong by two trawlers FB Hannan Sharif-2 of Mohiuddin Company from Kamalnagar and FB Muktar Mala-10 of Bengal Company of Chittagong.

But trawlers drowned as they fall prey to a storm. Later, two trawlers rescued 11 and 10 fishermen went missing.

Another rescued fisherman Babul said another trawler drowned with 18 fishermen on board. Only three of them were rescued.

Ramgati UNO (Upazila Nirbahi Officer) Delwar Hossain and Kamalnaga UNO Mohammad Abdul Awal confirmed the matter.
