DHAKA: The High Court on Thursday felt embarrassed to conduct hearing on a writ petition seeking directives upon the government to regularize ABM Altaf Hossain as judge of the higher court.

One of judges of the vacation bench comprising Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif and Justice Abu Taher M Saifur Rahman felt embarrassed.

Advocate Salauddin Dolon moved for the writ petitioner during the hearing while additional attorney general Murad Reza moved for the sate.

Murad told the journalists: “One of the judges felt embarrassed and the HC returned the writ, now it will go to the chief justice.”

On July, the government regularized services of five additional HC judges, leaving out Justice Altaf, who was appointed as an additional judge in June 2012 along with the others, without mentioning any reason.

Later, the judge filed a writ petition with the HC on Tuesday seeking its directives over the matter.
