CHITTAGONG: The department of customs intelligence & investigation on Friday seized gold worth about Tk 40 lakh from a passenger’s luggage at the Shah Amanat International Airport.
The passenger Osman, came from Sharjah by a flight of Air Arabia, has been detained by law enforcers.
Sources said that the customs authorities, however, seized the passport of the man.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Chittagong Customs’ Assistant Commissioner Moshiur Rahman Mondol said that they seized eight gold bars after recovering from a passenger at 10:00am.
The bars were tapped with a flask at his luggage, he added.
The customs’ official also said that a case has already been filed against Osman in this connection.
