Vessels plying on Barisal route shut

BARISAL: Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) declared that the movement of all types of vessels bellow 65-feet on the internal river routes of Barisal has been declared closed from Saturday morning due to the bad weather. 

The authorities prohibited plying of bellow 65-feet launches and trawlers on all internal and long distance routes.

Barisal River port Security and Traffic Management Department Deputy Director Abul Bashar Majumdar told banglanews, “The movement Baherchar and Dashmina-bound two launches has been halted from Barisal as meteorological department issued riverine warning signal number two.”

Barisal Naval Port Officer Shahidullah said that BIWTA issued the order for signal-2 which would be continued till further notice.
