SYLHET: A man killed his wife and son by drowning in water at Inat Alipur under Surma upazila of the district on Monday.

Locals, however, handed over the alleged killer Nonu Miah, son of Aiub Ali, residing in that village, to the police.

The deceased of the incident were identified as Aklima Begum, 24, daughter of Budu Miah, residing in Kotalpur Uttarpara village of Sylhet and her son Jony, 3.

Taruj Ali, a local claimed to banglanews that he saw Nonu Miah drowning his wife and son in the home-side Haor, a water body.

Aklima’s brother Mohammad Ali alleged that Nonu Miah often used to beat his sister over family dispute.

However, Mogla Bazar Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shafiqul Islam said that police after being informed took away the alleged killer to the Thana and sent the bodies to the morgue for autopsy.
