MADARIPUR: The plying of all water vessels including ferry remained stopped on the Mawa-Kawrakandi route for 11 hours due to heavy current on the Padma river since Tuesday night, triggering tailbacks on both sides of the river.
The services resumed at 8:00am Wednesday, said sources concerned.
Earlier, authorities concerned halted the service at 10:00am on Tuesday an hour after heavy current vanished some parts of a connecting road of Row Row Ferry Jetty at Mawa to the river.
The authorities also announced a halt to all waterway services on the route, fearing accidents due to high tide and continuous increase of water on the river.
Over five hundreds vehicles got stranded on both sides of the river, causing immense miseries to thousands of passengers.
