India’s Minister to Visit Bangladesh

DHAKA: General (Retd) VK Singh, Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (Independent Charge), External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs will visit Bangladesh on August 24. 

He will attend the India-Bangladesh Business Conclave titled “A New Phase in Bilateral Economic Relations”.

The Conclave is being organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Kolkata and the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) with the support of the High Commission of India. 

The Conclave will witness participation of senior policy makers and business representatives, and provide a platform for further enhancing trade, commerce and investment between India and Bangladesh.

The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region in the Government of India is responsible for matters relating to the planning, execution and monitoring of development schemes and projects in the North Eastern Region of India.

General (Retd) VK Singh’s visit follows the visit in June 2014 of India’s External Affairs Minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj.   

 In addition to General (Retd) VK Singh, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Dr Mukul Sangma and Tapan Chakraborty, Commerce and Industry Minister of Tripura are also expected to attend the Conclave.
