MUNSHIGANJ: The ferry services on Mawa-Kawrakandi water route were disrupted due to rough weather and current in Padma River Friday.
Ghat sources said that the ferries were taking much time to reach their destinations which made immense sufferings to passengers as hundreds of vehicles stuck on both sides of the river.
Avoiding huge current, out of 16 ferries, 12 were operating on the important river routes.
An official of Mawa Office said that the ferry service is underway through two ghat of Mawa.
Confirming the matter Mawa police outpost In-Charge Sub-Inspector Khandakar Khalid told banglanews, “Some eight ferries were running on the routes from morning, but they took much time to reaches destinations due to huge current.”
About five hundred vehicles were stuck in both sides of the river, he added.
