3 robbers lynched in Noakhali

DHAKA: Three robbers were killed and five others injured in a mass beating in Firingi area of Dhansiri union under Kabirhat upazila of the district after villagers caught them red handed during a robbery.

Of the deceased, one was identified as Azad Prakash, 38, a member of the robber gang and son of Abdur Abdul Sareng, hailed from Jogdanonda village of the upazila while identity of two others could not be known immediately.

On information, police rushed to the spot and fired blank shot to bring the situation under control.

Union Parisad Member Mazibul Haque told banglanews, “Some 10-12 robbers stormed into the house of Enayet Bapari in the village at 3:00am on Saturday.”

Five people, including a woman, of the house were injured as they tried to prevent the robbery. The robbers left the house looting cash money, gold and other valuables.

Sensing the robbery, villagers chased them, managed to catch seven robbers of the gang, and gave them a good beating, leaving two dead on the spot and five others critically injured.

Later, the injured were sent to Noakhali Malek Ukil Medical College Hospital where another robber died under treatment.

Confirming the matter, District Superintendent of Police Elias Sharif told banglanews that Police detained five robbers from the spot.

Meanwhile, police seized two Light Guns (LGs), five rounds bullets and a lethal weapon from the spot.

Police Super Elias Sharif and Sadar Circle Assistant Police Super Niskriti Chakma visited the spot.
