DHAKA: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is recording statements of five government officials, including power, energy and mineral resources secretary Abu Bakar Siddique,  regarding 150-crore taka corruption.

A three-member team led by ACC chairman Mohammad Badiuzzaman is conducting the hearing at ACC mini conference room in city from 12:00pm on Sunday.

ACC sources confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The officials include Abu Bakar Siddique, also former Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) chairman, Anwarul Karim, the additional secretary in OSD and also BPC former secretary, AKM Zafrullah retired secretary and also former BPC chairman, Maj. (rtd) Muktadir Ali former BPC chairman and Mohammad Abdul Awal, BPC former deputy managing director and also Chittagong WASA member.

According to the ACC sources, these government officials are accused of grafting 150-crore taka from BPC by showing ocean loss.

ACC filed a case with Chittagong Port Thana on October 16 in 2013 against the government officials after getting evidences in primary investigation.

Following the ACC law, the accused officials appealed to the ACC for personal hearing by claiming themselves innocent.

Later on June 29, ACC deputy director Jatan Kumar Roy submitted a report accusing the five officials.

According to the sources, ACC investigations also showed their involvement in corruption.

ACC investigation official regarding the case has submitted the final report seeking charge-sheet against the accused officials.
