DHAKA: Cabinet has approved a draft extended the date of speedy supply of power and energy act (special provision, amendment) 2014 under vetting.

The regular cabinet meeting chaired-by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the extension of the act.

Cabinet secretary Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told media after the cabinet meeting.

He said that the demand of electricity has increased. That’s why they had taken initiatives to amend the law. After passing the amendment, the law will be effective till 2018.
