‘Militancy doesn’t exist in Islam’

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said Islam doesn’t support militancy as it is a religion of peace and the incumbent government is promoting Islam.

The premier, also ruling Awami League president, made the observation while inaugurating a hajj camp in city’s Ashkona in the afternoon.

Mentioning that the government digitalized the hajj management, Hasina thanked the Saudi Arabia government for simplifying the procedure of hajj.

Sheikh Hasina claimed that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujinur Rahman also promoted Islam. Bangladesh had been member of OIC during the regime of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Calling upon the hajj pilgrims to observe hajj soundly, the Awami League chief said the government would do anything for the pilgrims.
