NETRAKONA: A Netrakona court on Thursday awarded lifetime imprisonment to three people for their involvement in killing here.

The convicts were Saheb Ali, son of late Josmat Ali of Ramnagar Balurchar village, Jalal Mia, son of Pirbox of Fulpur village, and Hachu Mia, son of late Akkas Ali of Anandapur village under Durgapur upazila. 

District additional and session judge Abdul Hamid handed down the order at 11:00am in absence of two convicts and with Jalal on the dock.

The courts also acquitted three others in this case as they were found innocence.

The case statement said farmer Amzad Hossain went missing after went out of home on January 12 1998; later, following the day, he was found dead on Shomesswari river in Durgapur area.

Victim’s son filed a case accusing six people on the day. Police submitted charge sheet on October 16, 1998 and the court delivered the verdict on Thursday after about 16 years.
