NGO official stabbed dead in Noakhali

NOAKHALI: A group of miscreants stabbed an NGO official to death at Companiganj upazila of the district on Saturday noon.

The deceased was identified as Tapan Chandra Bhowmik, 42, project director of a local NGO named Basanti Unyan Sangstha and son of one Kumud Chandra Debnath, resident of Upaddilamchhi village of the upazila.

However, local people caught the killer Abu Sayed alias Hukka and handed him over to police.

Quoting local people, Companiganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Sajedur Rahman told banglanews that Hukka along with some of his assistants entered the office of the NGO at Chaprashirhat Purba Bazar and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him injured critically.

He was rushed to Companiganj Upazila Health Complex and later he was shifted to Noakhali Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, he added.
