11 more Bangladeshi hajjis die in KSA

DHAKA: Eleven more Bangladeshis, who performed the holy hajj this year and were supposed to return home by this month, died in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) last week.

According to the Bangladesh religious affairs ministry, the deceased include 10 men and a woman. Of them, eight breathed their lasts in Makkah, 1 in Madina and 2 in Jeddah.

Of the deceased, Hajji Samsul Karim, 69, hailed from Feni district, passed away on Friday.

Earlier, two hajjis--Mohammad Ali Azam, 74, hailed from Sirajganj district, and Abul Hashem, 66--hailed from Dhaka, breathed their last on Wednesday.

Besides, two more hajjis were died on Tuesday, Abdus Sattar, 71, hailed from Chittagong, and Mohammad Firoj Khan, 59, hailed from Noakhali while Nurul Gani, 61, hailed from the same district, died on Monday.

Earlier, two hajjis breathed their last on Sunday.

They were Hajji Humayun Kabir, 62, hailed from Comilla, and Hajji Tayiba Begum, 71, hailed from Dhaka.

Hajji Abdul Hakim Mollah, 71, hailed from Narsingdi, and Hajji Mohammad Shar Ali, 66, hailed from Kishoreganj, died on Saturday.

According to the Makkah hajj mission, the deceased are expected to be buried in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, 10 more hajjis were died after hajj making the toll 21.

However, a total of 48 Bangladeshi pilgrims died before the hajj,   totaling the numbers of the dead pilgrims to 69.

A total of 98,683 pilgrims from Bangladesh have got KSA visa to perform the holy hajj.
