DHAKA: Police detained a person, who identified himself a superintendent of police (SP), in Banasri Residential Area at Rampura of the city on Saturday.

The detainee was identified as Azizul Islam Arif, 45, who was nabbed from house no. 10 at Block B of the area in evening.

Rampura Thana Officer-In-Charge Mahbubur Rahman told banglanews, “Arif was nabbed as he was allegedly affrighting the locals for long identifying himself a SP.”

During the preliminary investigation, Arif claimed himself as a former police constable but could not show any necessary documents.

A case was filled in this connection.
