War crimes convict Alim’s burial Monday

JOYPURHAT: Convicted war criminal Abdul Alim, who died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Saturday, will be buried at his family graveyard in the district on Monday.

Hasinur Islam Tapu, personal assistant of Alim’s son Foysal Alim, confirmed the matter to banglanews on Saturday night.

The body was scheduled to be handed over to the family at 10:00am on Sunday after finishing the post mortem examinations. 

His first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Banani Chairman Bari Mosque after Asr of the day.

Then, the body will be kept at the mortuary of the city’s United Hospital. It will be taken to the village on Monday and the second Janaza will be held at Joypurhat stadium.

Later, he will be laid to rest on the family graveyard in Thana Road area of the city.

Abdul Alim, 84, a former BNP minister, was sentenced to imprisonment unto death by International Crimes Tribunal-2 on 17 different charges related to committing ‘crimes against humanity’ committed during War of Independence in 1971.
