TANGAIL: A local Awami League leader was killed in a road accident in Saratail area in Kalihati upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Liakat Talukder, 55, AL president of Gohalia Bari union.

Sources said a goods-laden rashly driven truck crushed into Liakat’s motorbike in the area at the afternoon, leaving him injured critically.

He was rushed to Tangail Medical College Hospital.

Later, he succumbed to his injuries on way to Dhaka around 3:45pm.

Gohalia Bari Union Parishad Chairman and also his cousin Alam Talukder confirmed the matter to banglanews.
