Shipping Minster for trade union in RMG units

DHAKA: Shipping minister Shahjahan Khan urged workers to establish trade union in all garments factories to press home their demands as the owners denied to give workers rights.

The workers leader made the call while addressing a rally demanding to pay the arrear of the workers of five factories of Toba Group in front of National Press Club on Friday.

The rally was organized by garments’ Sramik Samannaoy Parishad.

The minister said “We discussed about the due with the government and Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) authorities. They are working to meet the demand.” 

He also said the incumbent government did not shot any protester though they demonstrate for their demand. But then BNP-led government killed many workers those came on street to press home their demand.

Baddrudoza Nizam, Member secretary of Sramik Samannaoy Parishad, workers leaders Z M Kamrul Anam, M Touhidur Rahman, Abul Hossain, Nazma Akter, among others, were present in the program.
