Indian HC condoles at death of Feroza Begum

DHAKA: High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran expressed his profound shock on the demise of Nazrul Geeti singer Feroza Begum.

The diplomat expressed the shock in a condolence message on Wednesday.

He said, “I convey my deepest condolences on the sad demise of Feroza Begum.  Feroza Begum was a great exponent of Nazrul Geeti and ruled the hearts of music lovers not only in Bangladesh but also India for almost seven decades.”

The Indian envoy also said, “She will always be remembered for her pioneering and legendary contribution to the field of music and the arts.  In her demise, the cultural world of the sub-continent has lost one of its greatest icons.”

“We pray to the Almighty for peace to the departed soul and for strength to her family, friends and admirers to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.

On Tuesday night, the most legendary Nazrul Sangeet singer died at Apollo Hospitals in the city.
