TANGAIL: An elderly couple was electrocuted at Kalihati upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Foyez Uddin Mandal, 71 and his wife Sahera Khatun 60, hailed from Char Hamjani village of the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Kalihati Thana Monir Hossain told banglanews Sahera Khatun rushed to save his husband Foyez Uddin who came in contact an electric wire on a path in front of their home, leaving them dead on the spot.

He added: “We have sent the body Tangail Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.”
