DHAKA: Four people were killed and six others, including women, injured as a train knocked them in Karwanbazar area of the city on Thursday morning.
Of the deceased, two were identified as Nur Mohammad, 40, a banana trader, son of Mannwar Hossain of Kotwali Thana of Mymansingh district and Manwara, 40, wife of Abu Kawsar of the city’s Bangla Motor area and hailed from Sadar Thana of Barguna district.
Manwara and other two were died while under treatment in Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Five of the injured are Salma, 40, wife of Motaleb of Begunbari of the city’s Tejgaon area, Syed Hossain, 45, an employee of Kohinoor Chemical Company Limited, Parul Begum of the city’s Kathalbagan area, Fazlu Khan, 40, of the city’s Khilgaon Nabinbangh area and Razib, 18, a nephew of Fazlu.
Tejgaon Thana Officer-In-Charge Mazharul Islam and sub-inspector (SI) Hedayet said in the accident one man died on the spot and three others died while were under treatment in the hospital.
They said injured six people are in critical condition.
The injured Fazul said the crossing bar had been kept down when the first train came. Moments later, another train came while he was crossing the rail lines.
