Indefinite transport strike in Rangpur

RANGPUR: An indefinite strike, called by District Motor Workers' Union, is underway on Rangpur-Dhaka route of the district from Tuesday morning.

Rangpur District Motor Workers’ Union General Secretary MA Majid in press conference declared the strike on Monday at 10:00pm.

Earlier on September 7, Rangpur Motor Owners’ Association’s men attacked Workers’ Union office and vandalized a car and three motorbikes.

Following the matter Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation of Rangpur division called indefinite strike. Later, the strike was withdrawn with the assurance of compensation in an understanding meeting.

But the understanding meeting went in vein when Tk1.5 lakh was given in lieu of Tk 10 lakhs.

Following the strike all type of Dhaka-bound bus services remained stopped.
