Mannan Bhuiyan to be buried at Dhanua

NARSINGDI: Veteran politician and former BNP Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan will be buried at his village Dhanua of Sibpur Upazila here.

Earlier it was announced that he would be buried at his village Masimpur in the family graveyard.

The preparation of burial has been completed and his body also reached Shibpur.

After a Janaza at his native place at Shaheed Asad College ground of Shibpur, he will be laid to eternal rest.

Earlier, people of two villages of Shibpur Upazila have engaged in a row over the place of his burial.
 
Villagers of Masimpur wanted the burial at his family graveyard. On the other hand Kala Mia, a close aide of Mannan Bhuiyan, demanded the burial at Dhanua.

Villagers locked into altercation on Wednesday morning over the issue.

Later, Chairman of Masimpur Union Parisad Abul Hanif Sikder, former General Secretary of Shibpur Upazila BNP Ariful Islam Mridha, Ashraf Bhuiyan and Mostafa Bhuiyan, uncle of Mannan Bhuiyan, Sibpur upazila Awami League president Harunur Rashid sat for a meeting and took the decision.

Mostafa Bhuiyan, uncle of Mannan Bhuiyan, told banglanews24.com.bd: “The people of both the villages want him to be buried in their village. However, we have taken decision after discussion.”

Family sources said the relatives of Bhuiyan also favoured for Dhanua.

Ariful Islam Mridha told banglanews24.com.bd that the decision came from Bhuiyan’s wife and son.

Mannan Bhuiyan died of lung cancer at 12:01 in the midnight of Tuesday at the Square Hospital in the capital. He was 67.
