COX’S BAZAR: Police detained some 69 Malaysia-bound people with nine brokers in separate drives when they were trying to go to Malaysia illegally from the district on Sunday night and early Monday.
Detective Branch (DB) police sources said, acting on a tip-off, police detained two brokers with 17 Malaysia-bound people from Bakkhali river’s Samiti Para channel around 12:00 noon on Sunday.
On the other hand, the law enforcers held 52 people, including 7 brokers from Teknaf and Pekua upazilas of the district early Monday.
Cox’s Bazar DB police Officer-in-Charge Manjur Alam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
