NEW YORK: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today exchanged greetings with US President Barack Obama and appreciated him for his speech in the UN Climate Summit 2014 here.

The Prime Minister also thanked the US President for his commitment to save the motherly earth from onslaught of climate change, PM’s Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury said. 

Sheikh Hasina came up with the appreciation in a reception accorded by US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at Worldorf Astoria Hotel here tonight.

The reception was accorded in honour of the heads of government and state of the countries participating in the 69th UN General Assembly.

Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury said the US President and the First Lady warmly received the Prime Minister at the reception. Obama also lauded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s speech at the UN Climate Summit.

Sheikh Hasina also exchanged greetings with other world leaders including Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa who joined the reception. 

Prime Minister’s Advisor on ICT and PM’s son Sajib Wazed Joy accompanied Sheikh Hasina at the reception.

Seeing Joy, Barack Obama commented that “You looked fine.”
