BSF kills Bangladeshi in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH:  Indian Border Security Force shot dead a Bangladesh national in Kusumpur border under Moheshpur upazila of the district on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Ziarul alias Razu Ahmed, 25, son of Zakir Hossain of Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga district.

Chuadanga 6 Border Guard Bangladesh Battalion commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Moniruzzaman said locals heard gunshots at 9:30 pm and informed the nearby BGB camp. Being informed, Kusumpur BGB camp commander Shafiqul Islam went to the spot and confirmed the death.

Shifiqul told banglanews, BSF personnel at Nonaganj camp under Keshtaganj Thana of Indian district of Nadia shot Razu near the sub pillar no. 18 of pillar no. 61 while he was crossing border with cattle.

Bullet-hit Razu ran away, fell into the river Ichamoti and died there.

Workmates brought his body home and informed Jibannagar Thana police.

BGB sent a letter to BSF protesting the killing and called a flag meeting on Thursday morning, Shafiqul said.

BSF, however, have not responded on the meeting yet.
