DHAKA: The customs authorities arrested a man along with two gold bars, weighting 2kilograms from Shahjalal International Airport in capital early Monday.

The arrestee is Rony, 37, hail from Shirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj.

Director General (DG) Moinul Khan of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said the custom official suspected Rony, who came from Kuala Lumpur, and searched him when he came to the transit lounge to transfer the gold around 12:15 am.

After searching Rony, the law enforcers recovered the gold bars, worth around Tk 1 crore, the DG added.

A case was filed in this connection with Airport Police Station.
