RAMU, COX’S BAZAR: Uttam Kumar Barua, main accused of Ramu violence case, is yet to be traced after two years of incident arose by an image depicting the desecration of the holy Quran posted on the his facebook wall on September 29, 2014.
Rita Barua, wife of Uttam and their son Aditya Barua do not know whereabouts of Uttam. He has been fugitive after the incident.
President Suresh Barua of Bangladesh Buddhist Samiti sought humanitarian assistance for Uttam’s son for his social security.
Uttam’s son Aditya answered all that police picked up his father. But the law enforcers also do not know wherabouts of him.
District Superintendent of Police Shamal Kumar Nath said all accused will be arrested and be produced before the court.
Local Awami League (AL) leaders pleased about the overall development of the case. But they demanded immediate release of innocent people.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) expressed dissatisfaction about the case and alleged that the innocent people are being framed in the case and being harassed.
Joint general secretary Advocate Nurul Islam said with the incumbent government and Prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s cordial wish and endeavor, they developed the situation of Ramu area and Buddist temples.
Ramu Upazila BNP leader Golam Moula and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Dr Monir Ahmed said the government has been arresting the opponent party leaders and activists. But real culprits are roaming freely.
Principal of Sima Bihar Sattyprio Mahather said Ramu was introduced as a non-communal spot of Bangladesh which was violated two years ago.
But he expects that all will move away from the way of violence and all community will remain aside ignoing discrimination.
Police inspector of Cox’s Bazar court Mizbah Uddin Khan said 945 people have been charge sheeted in 19 cases. Among them, 458 people are accused in eight cases in Ramu upazila.
But inhabitants of Ramu upazila are frustrated about some accused of the cases.
An accused of the case, Alhaz Abul Kalam Azad of Ramu tea state area, said he is an AL activist and freedom fighter. But a rival party made him accused in exchange of money, locals said.
