DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) director general (DG) Mokhlesur Rahman has been quizzed on Monday in connection with the gruesome Narayanganj seven-murder.
Sources said that the special administrative investigation committee, formed following the court order, grilled him.
The probe committee member secretary and also an additional secretary of public administration ministry Abul Kashem Mohiuddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He said the quizzing of RAB DG started around 2:30pm at the committee chairman and also an additional secretary of public administration ministry M Shahjahan Ali Mollah’s room at the secretariat.
“The RAB chief was quizzed as some of the elite force members have been accused in this much-talked about abduction and killing incident,” he added.
However, the committee has already quizzed about 400 people following the kidnap and murder of seven persons including Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar.
Their bodies were recovered from the river Shitalakkhya after three days from abduction on April 27.
Later, the higher administrative investigation team was formed as per the order of the court on May 7.
Some of the RAB members have been accused in this case.
Nevertheless, the RAB DG on past week claimed that their headquarters were not aware about the murder of the seven people in Narayanganj beforehand, in a text message sent to the media.
“The RAB headquarters do not want acquittal of any of its personnel involved in criminal activities,” the text message read.
