NEW YORK: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday left for London after concluding her eight-day official visit to the USA.

A flight US Air took off from John F Kennedy International Airport at 7.15 am local time.

The premier, also ruling Awami League lawmaker, will stay in London for two days and return home on Thursday (October 2).

Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Mohammad Ziauddin and Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the UN Dr Abdul Momen and a large number of expatriate Bangladeshis saw her off at the airport.

On September 22, Hasina came to New York to attend the 69th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

She addressed the UNGA on September 27 expressing concern over volatile global security situation and emergence of religious militancy and violent extremism in different parts of the world.

Sheikh Hasina attended the inaugural session of the Climate Summit-2014 and delivered speech at the "National Action and Ambition Announcement" session of the Summit. She also took part in a high-level discussion of the Global Education First Initiative.

Sheikh Hasina met with US business leaders urging them to create a new business partnership to help Bangladesh become a middle income country by 2021. She also highlighted government's liberal fiscal policies and incentives for foreign investors.

The Prime Minster joined a discussion of the Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHG) and attended a summit on international peacekeeping operation at the UN Headquarters.
