DHAKA: The Durga Puja, biggest religious festival of Hindu community, ended Friday as the Mohanabami and the Vijayadashami were held on same day.
The immersion of Duga’s idols will be held on Saturday, on the tenth day, when Durga the mother returns to her husband, Shiva.
Bangladesh Puja Utjapan Parishad president Kajol Devnath said the worship ended because both Mohanabami and Bijayadashami have fallen on the same day according to the ‘Tithi’.
He said Bangladesh Puja Utjapan Parishad and Mohanagar Sarbojonin Puja Committee will bring out a procession from the city’s Dhakeshwari National Temple premises at 3:00pm, which will reach on the bank of the river Buriganga parading the city’s thoroughfares.
The immersion ceremony of the goddess Durga will be held there, Kajol added.
The Puja began on Tuesday.
